As an avid glasses-wearer since the second grade, Stephanie has had ample time to find the perfect glasses style for her, and that’s thick rimmed frames! Stephanie also explains in her interview below how she’s able to keep her wardrobe up to date even when living in a small college town.
Name & Nickname: Stephanie Huang | Stephie
Home base: Los Angeles, CA
I applied to become a style ambassador because: I’ve been a glasses-wearer since the second grade and cannot recognize a face without a good pair of glasses or contact lenses. I also think glasses act as an unconventional accessory – I love the variety of brands that Coastal.com carries!
I chose this pair of glasses for my style ambassador starter kit because: I adore a good substantial and dark frame, and this Balenciaga pair works well with the color palette of my wardrobe. The tortoiseshell/havana effect also adds an interesting texture that differentiates this pair from all the other thick-rimmed pairs out there.
My glasses collection consists of ___ pairs of frames: 3 – all of which are thick-rimmed!
My favorite fashion trend of the moment is: Outwear in extremely long lengths, Kenzo’s eye motifs, distressed denim.
If I could be stuck in an elevator with anyone, it would be: Most likely someone who already died – AKA someone like Wilde, Bukowski, or McQueen.
I would describe my personal style as: Casual with a juxtaposition of hard and soft, gritty and put-together.
My go-to drink at Starbucks is: Probably a soy green tea latte or soy chai.
Glasses are an amazing accessory because: They give unexpected character to your getup.
The best way to organize a closet is: Whittling out what you don’t need – being a college student with a lack of closet space has really allowed me to understand the importance of using space pragmatically.
A tip on picking out the perfect pair of frames is: Look for what flatters your face (everyone says this), but it’s true, it’s kind of obligatory, like looking for a shoe that actually fits.
My current style muse is: Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea
My favorite online source for style inspiration is: Tumblr – anywhere photo-heavy, really. Not just photos of style, but architecture, minimalism, and cities as well.
Some favorite boutiques in my area are: Online shopping trumps in-store shopping for me – I also happen to live in a tiny college town that is a part of L.A. County, so there’s not much to see.
A social media platform or app that I can’t get enough of is: Instagram – who can?
My favorite fashion blogger is: Can’t choose just one.
Buying the same piece of clothing in multiple colors, yay or nay? Depends on what it is – but a definite yay if it’s a cut you love, e.g. in a t-shirt or a pair of jeans.
Favorite city to go shopping is: New York, of course – good vintage is a part of the equation.
