Meet Laurie

Name & Nickname: Laurie Roma | LaRoma or Roma

Blog: The PBR Budget

Home base: Philadelphia

Current occupation: Social Media Specialist at UHS

I applied to become a style ambassador because: When I found (through a friend on Instagram), I was hooked. The price, quality and brands are amazing, the customer service can’t be beat and I get compliments on all of my frames! I am a total frame junkie now.

I chose this pair of glasses for my style ambassador starter kit because: I am so obsessed with the clear frames trend! They couldn’t be more versatile and are really comfortable! Also, they look modern, fresh and clean.

My glasses collection consists of ___ pairs of frames: 10. Mostly Derek Cardigan, with a Gucci, Prada and Dolce and Gabbana thrown in for good measure.

My favorite fashion trend of the moment is: I am loving black and gold together. Also, vintage felt bowler hats, but I think that might just be my own obsession. I recently ordered a vintage felt Pendleton hat and am dreaming of what I can do with it…

If I could be stuck in an elevator with anyone, it would be: Would never happen. I’m terrified of elevators and always take the stairs – even when it’s a ridiculous number of floors to climb!

I would describe my personal style as: Classic and fun. I love to discover new shops on Etsy and buy vintage from eBay.

My go-to drink at Starbucks is: A soy cinnamon dolce latte with whip.

Glasses are an amazing accessory because: Glasses complete an outfit in the same way that a perfect handbag, necklace or a great pair of shoes can.

The best way to organize a closet is: I have tried it all, but what seems to work for me is to organize by item, so skirts, pants, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, etc. I always fold sweaters. Also, living in an apartment makes it tricky to find space and simply having things in my closet is an accomplishment.

A tip on picking out the perfect pair of frames is: Frames should be fun and match your personal style. As long as you love your frames, you will look happy and confident.

My current style muse is: I have always loved vintage and grew up watching old movies with my mom, so I like a lot of looks from the 70’s. Ali MacGraw and Diane Keaton are favorites. Today, Sienna Miller and Zooey Deschanel.

My favorite online source for style inspiration is: Whenever I make a purchase, I check Instagram and Pinterest to see how other people are styling similar items (or the same item).

Some favorite boutiques in my area are: I shop a lot online, but I love NRS Boutique in Philly. Nicole Rae Styer reworks vintage pieces and gives them a new life in the most unbelievable way. All of my favorite winter accessories are from her store!

My favorite fashion blogger is: I have a few and for different reasons. The Chloe Conspiracy for accessories and sales notifications; J’s Everyday, because she shops very similar to me; and The Look for Less, because that is me! I also love when bloggers communicate with each other on social, and all three of those do!

Buying the same piece of clothing in multiple colors, yay or nay? Yay. When you’re short (I am five feet tall) and find a pair of pants that actually fits without needing a trip to the tailor, you definitely invest in more than one pair!

Favorite city to go shopping is: New York City… but more for the street vendors than the stores. A lot of my favorite costume jewelry pieces were bought on the street in NYC!
