Since we moved to Canada 3 years ago, it’s been my dream to road trip from Vancouver up to the Rocky Mountains in Alberta and this September we finally got around to exploring some of our country’s most spectacular and iconic destinations.
During our 7-day road trip, we ventured around Yoho, Banff, and Jasper National Park and experienced some of the most stunning and memorable landscapes I’ve ever seen. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I love combining style with adventure, which is why a pair of chic glasses was an absolute essential for a trip like this. I figured the bold tortoise glasses from Clearly’s Fall collection would be perfect given the Fall-inspired nature of our trip, and I fell in love with the Derek Cardigan 7012 pair which I ended up wearing pretty much every day.
Fall is such a beautiful time to visit as you avoid the summer holiday crowds but still catch the gorgeous turquoise lakes in all their glory (before they freeze over) and the abundance of wildlife hibernation season begins. The glacier lakes are even more beautiful in real life than in photos especially in the morning when everything is calm and quiet, and the endless views of dramatic peaks and snow-dusted mountains truly are magical.
7 days of early sunrise shoots, hours at the wheel, long hikes and late night stargazing sessions left me with rather tired eyes, so I was very glad to have stylish eyewear that looked beautiful in photos and that I could wear on the daily instead of my contact lenses.
We visited so many breathtaking spots around the Rockies it’s hard to say which was my favorite, however, I will say that Jasper is a very special place and I can’t wait to go back to explore more. We found wildlife around every corner, the night sky was phenomenal and we even caught the Aurora Borealis one evening which was completely unexpected. My sight isn’t the best without my glasses, but fortunately I was able to see clearly with my newest pair of tortoiseshell specs.
Weather-wise, we pretty much experienced all four seasons in 1 week – it went from 25°C on day 1, to -5°C on day 3 – and it even snowed while we were at Peyto Lake in Banff, which I guess is one of the cool things about being in the mountains as the weather is constantly changing. Fortunately, my Derek Cardigan tortoiseshell glasses look fab in any weather, and when the weather finally picked up at the end of the week I was able to rock my prescription sunnies and enjoy a bit of sunshine!
There are some great men’s styles in the distinct tortoise trend too and you can get any pair of glasses fitted with a sunglass lens which means you have so many options to choose from. I opted for the Cathi Havana which are beautiful and feminine with a cat-eye. We had the most epic road trip and it made me fall in love with Canada that bit more. We loved camping and road tripping so much and I can’t wait for our next adventure!
Hopefully these pics have inspired you to get out and explore more of Canada, and don’t forget to take a look at Coastal’s other glasses styles that are trending this Fall 2017 and Winter 2018!
