2014 held some of our favorite looks in celebrity eyewear, and their captivating styles are perfectly relevant for 2015. From classic colors and shapes, such as glossy black Retro-Wingtip glasses, to bold and innovative patterns and designs, these are some of the key looks that you can incorporate into your wardrobe this year.
Jennifer Aniston is an avid glasses wearer, and we’ve followed her experimentation with metal, semi-rimless and aviators throughout the years. Recently she selected a sleek pair of black frames with a deep square lens to compliment her casual look at a Q&A. With some of the biggest accolades of her career for her role in Cake, and awards season yet to come, we can’t wait to see what eyewear Jennifer has in store for us in 2015.
There are few who captivated us more in 2014 than Lupita Nyong’o, oscar winner and now also Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year. A fashionable mix-master, Lupita’s glasses style changed to reflect her look, including this rounded frame with an upswept shape.
After starring in the year’s biggest film with Guardians of the Galaxy, and becoming a new mom to twin sons, it could be hard to top 2014 for Zoe Saldana. Her glasses reflected her self-assured style by complimenting patterns, and selecting bold and flattering cat eye frames.
We’re thrilled to see Shameless back on the air, and to see more of Emmy Rossum’s compelling fashion in 2015. Her key eyewear look in 2014 were these striking red glasses that Emmy sported both out and posted on her Instagram account.
Benedict Cumberbatch glasses looks included these bold frames from Persol that feature metal detailing on the temple and arm. Benedict demonstrated how a Retro-Wingtip can seamlessly compliment looks both on and off the red carpet while promoting his lauded work in The Imitation Game and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. We only wish that his returning role as Sherlock this year included some great frames.
We couldn’t have been happier for Ty Burrell when he won his Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2014 Emmy Awards. Wearing our exclusive Derek Cardigan brand to pick up this statue, Ty Burrell’s glasses were modern, but didn’t distract from his formal tuxedo. We’re looking forward to more of Ty and Modern Family in 2015.
2014 ended with big news for Joseph Gordon-Levitt who married his longtime girlfriend, Tasha McCauley, co-founder and CEO of Fellow Robots. On a rare public appearance with his new wife, Gordon-Levitt wore on-trend round glasses that have a timeless appeal.
2014 may have been the year of Matthew McConaughey as he accepted his first Oscar for the Dallas Buyers Club, and made the publicity rounds for both his film and for his equally acclaimed role on True Detective. He was often spotted wearing round translucent glasses that complimented both his casual and formal looks.
