While most may have been content with travel and a life of luxury following the marriage to a European prince, Diane von Furstenberg began carving a now 40-year long career in fashion. She remarked, “The minute I knew I was about to be Egon’s wife, I decided to have a career. I wanted to be someone of my own, and not just a plain little girl who got married beyond her desserts”. In 1974 Diane von Furstenberg’s now iconic knit wrap dress broke through from the fashion elite to the mainstream, remaining a flattering and coveted style to this day.
With her fashion houses relaunch in 1997, Diane von Furstenberg has shown that she continues to be a designer and businesswoman to be admired and to watch out for. As the President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and a known philanthropist, she continues to encourage the role of women in business and to the American Fashion Industry worldwide.
The Spring 2013 Collection
Of her Spring 2013 Diane von Furstenburg commented, “It really is so much about me when I was a young princess, a rebel princess. When, yes, you go to the Roman palaces, you go to Jaipur, you go to Marrakech, and you look the sophisticated aristocrat, but you take off the tunic and the layers and you are ready to go dancing all night.” The Diane von Furstenberg eyewear collection provides an ideal compliment to her Spring 2013 collection.
70′s vintage inspired detailing, graphic black and white contrasting, and marbled tie dye effects are all highlights of the collection that are seamlessly incorporated in the Diane von Furstenberg eyewear collection.
