Confined Spaces / Rope Rescue Training |
|
Many workplaces contain spaces that are considered "confined" because
their configurations hinder the activities of any employees who must
enter, work in, and exit them. OSHA uses the term "confined space" to
describe such spaces. Employees who work in confined spaces face
increased risk of exposure to serious hazards such as entrapment
asphyxiation or the moving parts of machinery.
Since deaths in confined spaces often occur because the atmosphere
is oxygen deficient or toxic, confined spaces should be tested prior to
entry and continually monitored. More than 60% of confined space
fatalities occur among would-be rescuers; therefore, a well-designed
and properly executed rescue plan is a must.
Coastal's confined space training programs will help protect your
employees and help your facility comply with OSHA's confined space
entry and confined space rescue training requirements as stated in OSHA
Standard 1910.146. Topics covered include preparing confined space
entry permits, atmospheric testing, ventilation and technical rescue
procedures — just to start!
