Over 30 million American workers are exposed to hazardous chemicals in their workplaces.
OSHA's HazCom standard requires very specific and comprehensive
training. Yet, hazard communication violations ranked #2 on OSHA's top
10 list for 2006.
Employees may be interviewed during an audit or OSHA inspection to
determine if adequate training has taken place. Be sure your employees
are thoroughly trained not only so you can comply with the OSHA
standard but also so you know your workers have the knowledge to
protect themselves from hazardous materials.
OSHA's HAZCOM standard, also known as the "Right-To-Know" standard,
specifically states all workers must be made award of hazardous
chemicals whether they work directly with them or not. Employers are
required to identify hazardous materials in the workplace, provide
warning labels, provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs), establish
a written HAZCOM program, and notify workers and contractors of
workplace hazards.
Coastal's hazard communication training programs can help you meet
these OSHA compliance requirements and protect your workers from
hazardous chemical accidents. Be sure to browse our hazard
communication online training courses, DVDs, videos, CD-ROMs, posters
