When I founded Coastal in 1984, my vision was to create an innovative, employee-friendly company dedicated to improving the well-being of workers around the world.

And now, 25 years later, Coastal's commitment to Training the Global Workforce has never been stronger. With our extensive line of award-winning DVDs, e-learning solutions, print materials, and instructor-led courses, we have established a reputation for high production values, reliable content and consistent instructional design.

Corporate Highlights:

In the 1980s, we earned a reputation for using cutting-edge video production techniques to increase the impact of workforce training, while improving its consistency.
In the mid-90s, our Clarity Multimedia^® products increased employee retention and reduced the impact on production by pioneering the use of CD-ROM with full-motion video.
In the late-90s, we introduced ClarityNet^®, a web-based platform that allows employers to easily deliver customized training for workers at various sites.
In 2000, we launched Safe2Work, a web-enabled system for providing and verifying both safety training and drug testing for a mobile workforce.
In 2001, we moved into a brand-new 67,000 square foot, 11-acre corporate campus in our hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia. This state-of-the-art facility strengthened our commitment to quality training programs and first-class customer service.
In 2003, we launched Coastal DVD. Today, we offer more than 500 programs on DVD, an ever expanding list that provides customers with our award-winning content in a vivid interactive format. Coastal DVDs also provide an array of additional benefits: English and Spanish versions on one DVD plus many include Portuguese; a customizable PowerPoint^® presentation; chapterized content; and an electronic Leader's Guide.

In 2005, Coastal Human Resources and American Media Inc. joined forces to form CoastalAMI. With a combined 35+ years experience in producing high-quality training programs, CoastalAMI offers a robust library of award-winning programs on the latest employee development topics -- from diversity and sexual harassment to customer service and teamwork. We are proud to offer CoastalAMI titles in a full array of formats, including multilingual DVDs and customizable interactive online courses.
Also in 2005, Coastal and Dr. E. Scott Geller, a professor of psychology and a leading authority on worker safety, introduced People-Based Safety, an innovative new system that trains employees to become safety conscious by focusing on their thoughts and attitudes as well as their behavior. A four-part skill set Acting, Coaching, Thinking and Seeing (ACTS) trains workers to think and act safely and develop a caring attitude toward their co-workers. People-Based Safety is the most exciting new safety system available!
In 2006, we released ClarityNet HD^® courses feature crisp,clear video in wide screen (400 x 300 kbps) format which enlivens the viewing experience. The courses can be played on any computer, 24/7, so you can deliver them to any location for easy viewing. You can customize ClarityNet^® courses with site-specific audio and video content, so the programs become exclusively yours.
In 2007, Hot Potato and PinPoint were launched to complete the comprehensive Coastal eLearning System. Hot Potato provides a secure, easy system for updating and sharing critical information. The PinPoint assessment builder enables you to measure the skill level of employees so that you can tailor your training program.
